Who knew that the Muncie Board of Public Works could be so exhilarating?!

We just got back from our meeting to request noise exemptions and street closings. Let me tell you what happened.

We walked into this HUGE building downtown, and all the people in there run the city of Muncie. We walked into this room with so many chairs, there was about 1,000 people in there. At the front of the room, was a tiny little podium in front of a huge desk with the head honchos of Muncie. I had to go first to present the Noise Exemption Request for the Opening Day Games. I had to walk about 100ft to get to the podium. I was shaking in my boots/ flip flops. They asked about 25 questions, and one of questions was, "Do you agree with the current sanitary plan implemented at the meeting on September 7, 2007?" Good think I know how to think on my feet. After a long 30 minutes, they approved my request!

And then they approved Paula's, mine again, and then Laura's. Needless to say, we rocked it. :)

p.s. I am stoked for the Spring Info Meeting tonight!! Peter made an awesome powerpoint.

I feel pretty....oh so pretty!!!

SOOO

I'm sitting in the office with Franklin right now, and to be completely honest he is driving me insane. All we do is bicker back and forth as to how AMAZING the BEST WEEK EVER is going to be. The boy be trippin...that is all I am saying. (I heart you Franklin)

(P.S. Franklin is killing the sponsorships!! He's been on the phone like a mad man finding out useful information)

Paula and I have been super busy with meetings, dinners, wedding planning, etc. for homecoming week and we couldn't be more thrilled to be bringing the students a face paced, fun, energized event.

Fireworks on are going to be super BA this year, and I've been in correspondance with Mr. Firework Man...he is so cool! WLBC will be in contact with Paula and I in the upcoming weeks, as we want them out at our event, and lets talk about food! Mr. MANN IS GOING TO HOOK US UP!!!

ALRIGHT!!! SOO overview...Frank is killing me softly, Paula & I are getting married, Ed Shipley is the MAN!!!, Michelle likes to play with her hair, Kate looks great in forest green...it completments her skin tone, and I ladies and gentleman am still highly in LOVE with HOMECOMING 2009!!!!!

Get Pumped!

For this year's homecoming I'm in charge of organizing and planning the parade. Hopefully not only will this year's homecoming be the "Best Week Ever" but hopefully we will have the Best Parade Ever! We are getting ready to send out invitations to all the local band directors inviting them to come participate and to a list of convertible owners asking for their donation of their vehicles for the morning. Things are going great so far with planning everything but there is still a lot left to be done! If any readers of the blog own a convertible and would be interested in driving it in the parade please contact us, we are always looking for more convertibles!

A question I've been asked by many people is, "Why are you starting on Homecoming stuff so soon?" There is a simple answer to this question. Many people don't realize how much work goes into the planning and execution of the week of Homecoming events. We have to fill out lots of paperwork asking for spaces to use for events and have to have permits granted through many local agencies. There is a lot of work to do and not a whole lot of time to do it. When we come back to school in the fall there are only 5 short weeks till Homecoming week.

I hope everyone has a great last couple weeks of the semester and are able to enjoy the beautiful weather that we are having!

Hello Everyone!! I'm just hanging in the HSC office working on Royalty stuff. So far we have the Royalty dinner booked and I'm looking at options for the menu :) I have also been looking into items to have the Royalty candidates pass out to students to get them to vote in September. Some other fun things I've been looking at are the tiaras and crowns to give to the Homecoming 2009 King, Queen, and Court!! And it has been oh so fun looking at them!

I'm getting things ready for the Spring Information meeting which is April 22nd... so get EXCITED!!!! Free Pizza and Great Information!!

I'm waiting for Royalty forms to be turned in. They are due Friday, April 10th 2009. Once I have those all turned in I can get things ready for pictures and for the Fall!

B-B-B-Benny & the...Cardinals.

So I'm hanging out at the Alumni Center during my office hours and checking things off my list. I decided it was time to blog again.

Abby and I are in the process of meeting with the Emen's staff to set up all the details for Air Jam and Talent Search. So far we have the place booked! I also caved and decided to Twitter (or is it tweet??). Who wants to tutor me, because I'm not really sure I get it? I've also spent most of my office time contacting alum for possible judges and a few potential emcees!

I'm really excited to make things happen this year! Wednesday nights are always entertaining with you all! :) With all the excitement and commitment around that round (oval) table, this homecoming week might be better than the best week ever!

Sheri

Oh...and the fleeces are ordered!!! :D

Did you hear?!?!?!? BENNY GOT BACK!!!

The preliminary flag football meeting went exceptionally well this week. I couldn't be more excited for the possibility that this event is going GLOBAL BABY....I mean AROUND THE WORLD! (well not really, but it would be so sweet) ANYWHO as Paula and I always say "DREAM BIG"

We have another meeting next week with even more people to help make this event possible and hopefully our general meeting that follows will contain numerous updates on how this really is going to be the best week ever : )

The fireworks display is being worked on as we try our best to set this years show to music, and I couldn't be more thrilled that they will take place out at the Scheu!!

GO HOMECOMING

Brandon

Homecoming rulez my life!

Here I sit in Bracken Library after spending close to 7 hours in the last 30 working on solely Homecoming stuff. I'm not complaining though, because the work I'm doing now should go a long way to making Homecoming week the best week ever. Plus, all this work is making me feel quite accomplished.

Thus far I've created an Excel spreadsheet with the address and phone number of over 200 Muncie businesses to contact as well as updated the letters that are being sent to them in late summer.

Now I'm working on the specifics for the inaugural Business Storefront Decorating Contest. It is going to be a competition between Muncie businesses to see which one can have the best decorated storefront as determined by a panel of judges. I'm excited because if the contest is well received, it will result in the town being painted Cardinal red and white and creates another bridge between Muncie and the university.

Overall, Homecoming is shaping up nicely. Everyone is working well together and the meetings are light-hearted and entertaining yet extremely productive. Across every event, chairs are pushing the limits to the extreme to make everything bigger and better than previous years, and that can only result in one thing: epic awesome.

Anywho, this Word document is calling me (yes, it speaks) so I'll going to get crackin' on that.
